Cleveland Heads vs. P Heads

Subject: Cleveland Heads vs. P Heads Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:29 am

Okay, so I've found these P heads with the larger exhaust valve in them but they need ot have the exhaust side ported to take advantage of the larger valve but I"m wondering if I'd be better off with a set of Cleveland heads but I can't find anyone that has actaully used both styles on their motor.

Anyone here have some insight? scratch

I'm given to understand that P heads are better than Cleveland heads. I haven't tried each of them, but that's what I've heard.

I think there was some sort of debate about this on the Corral or something. Maybe hunt around over there.

Don, stay away from the cleveland head, unless you're building a cleveland. The cleveland heads can be used on a windsor block, but machine work is required.( very minimal ) You also need a special intake.

Thanks for the links and the replies. Based on what I'm reading a set of mildly ported "P" heads run as well as the Aussie Cleveland heads so to avoid issue with special intakes/headers/machinging/etc I'll probably go with ported P heads. Now I just need to find good instructions on porting P heads!
