| Hi everyone ! I've never owned a Ford product before , so I'm trying to learn everything about my '78 Fairmont Futura . I hope to get a lot of questions answered here and support the vendors . The Futura has a straight 6 with 50,000 miles and was in heated storage for 12 yr.s . It has very little rust . Just a patch needed at the driver's feet area and in the trunk at the seams where the wheelhouse meets the trunk floor . I want to keep it streetable , but a dragstrip terror on the weekends . I've always liked the look of Bob Glidden's Fairmont and after witnessing Don Bowle's jaw-dropping A/ Super Modified Fairmont back in the late 70's , I had to buy this car ! I would like to install a small block ( 331 ? ) with a 4-5 speed manual trans and a 9" rear . I also would like to mini-tub it for 10.5 slicks . Right now , I plan on keeping it on the road with the six cylinder and do the necessary rust repairs and then begin converting the front suspension to a 5 lug wheel with a brake upgrade for street / strip . I would prefer to buy a complete package of spindles , rotors , calipers , pads , lines , etc . from one source , instead of scouring junkyards . Anyhow , any suggestions will be considered and I appreciate the forum taking the time to get me rolling ! Cheers ,
Joe
P.S. How do I post pics on any messages ?

| Welcome to the group! Can't wait to see the pictures.
According to the FAQ: Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor to images stored behind authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed). I use Imageshack., it is free. | |

| Welcome, nice looking Futura! But I can see you already have the 5 lug swap done.
