what a weekend.....
i got a steering wheel off of an f150, (that's better than a pair vice grips, even though it is pretty large for the mustang, i fired-up th v-8 after having to replace the fuel pump, i decided to give it a good run around and check the transmission out, i got it up to 60 mph, all the gears operate as well as overdrive, that was great news.
i then decided to take it to the car wash, and clean the motor. all went good until the spark plug wires got soaked, the eng flooded, land then i ran the battery down cranking it over .after my 15 minutes of fame, i pulled the intake hose & air filter housing, pulled out wires and blew out the spark plug tubes & wires, i lost the spark on the right bank coil as the coil was damaged in the accident near the wiring connector. wd-40 works wonders!!!
by the time i got back to the shop, the eng was running quite warm, so i decided to hook the fan up and just let it idle, that was smart as i suppose the block of wood i shoved in between the radiaotor & fan must have fell-out, so when the fan started, i thought the steam was from the water on the fan, i found later it was the clip that holds the fan blade to the fan motor chewing thru the radiator.
i still havent found another Fairmont body, and i have been looking, just no luck.
now i have to change the lower intake gaskets on the 5.0 fairmont, it looks like #2 & #3 Cylinders are sucking air, i thought i used ford gaskets, but it appears they were not. i have been bitching about how hot its been latley, and now today the wind is blowing like hell & it's cold, we may even get some snow.
oh well, it's all good in the fairmont-hood...
