Haven’t driven the Fairmont much since February, when the wife was having some heavy duty chemo & radiation and I lost interest in it. it's amazing how soon you realise what is most important in your life.
I decided to give it a check-up, so I brought it up to the service drive to have a repair order opened so I could get it into the workshop. Being it’s a 79 model on an 80 plate the vin doesn’t match the newer cars, when we went to put it in the computer, the service advisor didn’t know what kind of car it was, so jokingly I told him it was a Fomeli Fangar (as it is made from Ford Mercury and Lincoln parts using parts from FAirmont, mustaNG and cougAR). He asked if it was Italian so I said yes!!! Later he asked what is a Fairmont? (that hurt!!)
Anyway all seemed well, so I cleaned it and filled it up and added some fuel treatment as the gas that was in it was kind of smelly & took it home.
The wife & I decided to go to Tombstone for an ice cream, so we got some drinks for the trip, and headed out.
Some rednecks in a Chevy pick-up thought they’d have a go while we were cruising, so when we shot off, the wife was wearing her coffee and shouting expletives I hadn’t heard in years as the pick-up was getting smaller & smaller in the mirror.
It felt good to go around those corners and over the hills as I hadn’t driven the car is some time.
I’ll run the fuel out of it and put it away again, but it felt good to have a little excitement for a change.
Next month we find out if the cancer is gone, that would truly be a blessing.
