| hi all, im new here. 3 weeks ago i got a 79 fairmont wagon i6,c4,7.5 273 rear car.i plan on alot of mods to it. first thing i did was change the wheels, second was headliner and radio. third is comming steering wheel. i plan on a v8 swap. i have a double hump cross member comming and i got a 7.5 3.08 traclock rear all ready to go in it this week. im glad i found this board. hope to get input. thanks matt | |

| You might already have the double hump crossmember. My 79 had it stock. My 80 did not. The double hump has a smaller hump on the left side than it does on the right, and the non-double hump is almost straight.
Also, in order to install the motorsport/ford racing double hump, you'll have to modify the mounts on the crossmember, or on the car, because the mounting dimension of the later #3 crossmember is larger than the earlier one. If you modify the car and not the crossmember, then I recommend moving the rear mount plate toward the rear of the car, so that you have all of the adjustability you may need later.
