Well, I gave up on rebuilding my T5 because I found a rebuilt "Z" spec T5 for $450 santa It's from a reputable builder. I just couldn't walk away from that price.

Arrow So now on to the shifter. What are people running and what recommendations do you have? Looking for the short throw style but don't want excessive noise channelled into the interior.

Thanks,
Don

I've used both pro 5.0 and hurst...really couldn't tell the difference. They both worked very well. I've also driven a car that had a UPR blue thunder....same deal. Just make sure that the shifter is equipped with adjustable stops to prevent over shifting.

i like my hurst, beacuse its oldschool and has a hurst billard shift ball on it.

but i love the feel of a steeda triAX, they shift faster and smoother, and in my opinion make better shifters for racing.

btw, no shifter is going to cause any extra noise than another. its the tranny that is loud, when you install it be sure to at least use all of the factory sound deadoning and shifter boot unless you want to replace it with better stuff.

my shit is loud because i have a Gforce RAcing T5 with helical cut gears, people have heard it and accused me of having a secret supercharger lol.

My experience with aftermarket shifters, based on cars I've been in (including my son's 91 Mustang), is that there is more noise transmitted by the aftermarket shifter than the stock shifter. I've read multiple comments on multiple sites about this as well. Based on what I've read the B&M Pro Ripper transmits the least amount of sound but it ain't cheap affraid

I'm tracking several different ones on eBay though including the UPR Blue Thunder, the B&M and a Hurst. We'll see.

Anyone have any issues installing theirs?

Don
