| I've thought about trying to get some kind of cool older car like that that's in unusually good shape to use as a daily driver, y'know since we don't have room for a second project car, but I don't think I have the guts for it. I think i'd probably end up paying more than I'd be able to get out of it to buy it, and potentially have an unreliable car that I would count on to get me places. I considered Pintos, early Escort/Lynxes, Broncos, and of course Fairmont/Zephyr wagons. No dice though. I think at best, I can maybe look at getting a 5.0L mid-'90s Explorer and slap a Flowmaster on there and call it good.
I know what you could do with your Lynx. Get a FWD 2.3L setup out of a Tempo and then get a Turbo setup for it, out of say a Mustang or F/Z.

| win/win problem solved.
take the old dear out for a slap-up meal & a kness up and buy another one or 2 & do the same, see it's easy, unload the next load of parts, and do the same, whoa!!!hey is that what happened to me.... shit loads of mustangs, a freinds barn full of parts and the market takes a shit. maybe just do ONE at a time, it's less stress. golden rules: no title-no deal. never pay more than the scrappie would pay for it. gotta be able to turn it over quickly. if it has all these GOOD PARTS ON IT, WHY ARENT YOU DRIVING IT?? i dont care that it ran like a scalded cat 3 yrs ago, does it run now, lets see it run???
i like to focus on the hard to find stuff, so i would probly focus on th SVO, it has what you want/need, and you may be able to turn over some other pieces, cluster, pcm wiring, mirrors, clip, emblems, engine, trans etc. $$$$ i'm down to 1 1/2 mustangs now, a couple more pieces ,and off to the crusher she goes, the other one im using for storage. i cant complain, even in the bad times, they still pay for lunch, bad thing is they dont yield much dough right now unless it needed badly. power mirrors, electric trunk latch, power seat frames, lumbar, automatic pedals, manual pedals, consoles, you know the kind of stuff. sorry to write so much, but 800 bones is a good start. do it...you know you want to......be a devil.....do it, take the dough....do it...buy the SVO, do it...

| I had a '00 Cougar for a while. V6, manual, sunroof. I liked the style, but the one I had was a flood car, and had apparently been beat to hell before I got it. It made all kinds of interesting noises and probably wasn't far from falling apart. I wanted to save it, but I had my Zeph too, so I needed the Cougar to be my daily driver. It wasn't reliable enough for that, so it had to go. | |
