| I took the header off and heated it up and hit the section of the shaft into the header with a hammer, but there is still a little bit of rubbing not to bad will that cause a proublem? | |

| you gotta get rid of the rubbing, dont forget, its not th header you should be concerned with, it's the steering!!! THOSE RAG JOINTS DONT LIKE STRESS.
snap-on make a special hammer for reshaping headers, its called a ball pien.
dont worry too much about dimpling the headers, look at what ford did to the mustang headers, they still work just fine.
remember hot gases WANT to escape and will exit the area of the modification just fine.

| Are you using stock type motor mounts? I had that problem with my car. I dimpled the header and thought all was well, until the oil pan rubbed a hole in the steering rack. Get yourself some Energy Suspension poly motor mounts. They should bring the engine up to the point that it doesn't rub on anything.

| how far up will these motor mounts raise the engine, or will they be at stock hieght. i remember some people were using the converible motor mounts to lower the engine.
im using the original motor mount brackets from the 4.2 litre engine that came in the car, obviously i have replaced the rubber mounts, but have never had this problem.
could the brackets that fit the engine to the mounts be an issue, when i took the engine from the mkVII, the brackets looked different.... | |

| Even brand-new stock mounts let my oil pan rest on my steering rack. The Energy Suspension mounts put the engine about a half inch off the rack. Prothane mounts had the engine about an inch higher. | |
