PostSubject: New member from Chicago in need of help   Mon Feb 11, 2013 6:36 pm

Hi, New member. Resently purchased a 1978 Futura 2dr automatic with 200 cID. one owner car with almost 60,000 original miles on it and has been parked in a garage since 2006. A retired couple owned it and because of thier age (ninety) they spot driving. Car was undercoated when purchased by dealership (not very good, but floor solid). had to put new valve guide seals on it and replacing rear axle (7.5) with a 8.8 posi because the brake line are in pertty bad condition. Interior bench seat gold like color seats excellent and carpeting needs shampooing.

looking for advise in putting in the posi? I got a rebuilt 1989 8.8 posi out of a Mustang. Looking at it , it should fit with no problems. Am I wrong in saying that? I'm going to put it in this week end and I was wondering if any body out ther has done one and is it a perfect fit or is there something I should look out for?

I'm also looking for parts, parking brake braket for equalizing tension when applying brakes. Mine is rusted out and wheel well molding. so if you know where I can purchase these parts , please email me. My name is Fred And yes I am interested into putting a V8 into it. Just don't know which V8, small block or big block? The car is my every day runner.

You should have no trouble swapping in the 8.8. I believe the driveshaft length is even the same.

As for that bracket, you're probably looking at a junkyard. I've tried to find it new, and had no success.

you may try looking at some of the other early 80's fox bodied cars, LTD, Cougar etc, they may have usd the same parts.
