| There seems to be a lot of younger people doing mods to their mustangs. Some go the Autozone way and bling-up, some got to summit, some go with awesome stereos, etc. hey that’s cool, keeping the mustangs on the road and still going, personalizing them, it’s all good stuff, because eventually these mustang parts may end-up on my Fairmont at a substantially reduced price if I purchase the whole mustang…. I have nothing against mustangs, in fact I’ve had some over the years, and want another one later, it’s just that the fox body platform is a great parts source for the Fairmont. A lot of guys want to do the mini starter swaps, 5 lug upgrades, 3g alternator swap, master cylinder or booster upgrades and are looking for parts, unfortunately most are looking for year and car specific parts. Well; there is an easier way to find the parts you need or want, try using” online auto parts at csk”. Say for instance you want a mini starter for a 93 mustang 5.0, go to this site, look up the starter for a 93 mustang 5.0 with automatic, then there is a portion of the page that says see all cars this part fits, and it opens up a whole bunch of cars and trucks this starter will fit. This is a good upgrade as it is smaller, stronger, quieter, uses less cranking amps and farther away from the exhaust. The big craze at the moment is the 95 mustang cobra booster exchange; did you know that the 99-2004 mustang v6 uses the same booster? The 97 mustang v-6 7inch 3G 130 amp alternator that people talk about is also available on other cars. A lot of these parts are interchangeable between years, various models and even trucks sometimes. If you are looking for a starter from a 93 mustang at the junkyard, you might pay more for it that for an f150, same starter, you just MAY pay for the MUSTANG difference. I hope this helps you guys out. It may be a way to get the mods you want just a little bit easier or cheaper. | |

| hey i just had a look @ this alternator, i've never seen a merkur, but is sure as hell looks like a sierra cosworth. looks like the alt throws out 90 amps, thats more than enough. when i had the old 4.2 liter engine in the car i was going to put a 1 wire GM alternator in it, they should fit straight in, maybe a washer or 2, just never got round to it, like a lot of things around here, parts kept piling-up. i really like to see some odd-mods on these cars, you must be the only one with that alternator!! | |

A friend of mine was really into the merkurs for a while, and he's the one that turned me on to them. When he sold his car, he gave me the spare he had for it. I asked about avaliability....he said it's still easy to get....you still might have to order though. | |
