| Sometime back I wrote about finding a 351 to build into a 393 but then the deal fell through. Well, I'm taking a second run at it on another 351. I found an early 1972 complete motor but it's in pieces. I'm going to look at it next weekend (I"m in Mexico again right now). It's already a 30 overbore but according to the guy (and I'll measure when I get there) it's still within spec on the overbore. I would have the block gone through anyway. Due to budget (and 3 kids in college) I'm going to just reassemble and have the 351 until the economy turns around and then go for the 393.
The heads on it don't flow as well as the P heads so as a cheap upgrade I'm going with some P heads, any suggestions on a cam?
It'll be connected to my new T5 and running 3.55 gears.
Thanks in advance! | |

| Oops, carbed.
I also found a 351 Stealth on Craigslist for $100 so I think I might pick it up.
Long tube headers.

| Thanks for the link. I may just copy this set up as it gets me where I want to be for now!
I checked and Central Coast Mustang (the shop that did the heads in this article) is out of business. I'm looking for another shop to do some port work.
Anyone know a source for this or for already set up P heads?

| Can't afford alum heads right now. Iron are cheap and if they get me to 400hp then for now I'll be happy!
Unless you know a source for a decent set of alum heads at an iron price!!

| i will be selling my tfs ported heads for 750 soon. so i can step up to some race heads. seriously unless you got a set of world ported windsor juniors, dont bottle neck your windsor with gt40s p's or not p's, they are just to small for a healthy windsor, especially if you are going bigger than 357. | |

I agree...the heads will be ok for right now. Even with a 351, you're going to leave a lot of power on the table. There are deals out there....check with some of the local roundy round guys. I was at a swap meet once that was mainly for circle track...you wouldn't belive some of the parts these guys have for sale...they're constanly upgrading to keep up with or stay ahead of the competition. You're defineatly going to need to step it up when you build your 393.

| For the 393 I'd get some aftermarket. For now I was going to build a mild 351 to save on budget. I'll keep after racingjunk.com and watch for swap meets. IN my area, there are none - ever.
When you get ready to sell the TFS though, let me know.

| Yeah...and this area is heavier into chebbies too so it's even harder to find nice Ford parts. I watch eBay, Criagslist, racingjunk.com and of course this forum.
Next time you go for a swap meet let me know maybe you can shop for me!!
