    Holy Shit!

    SO here's the deal...

First, I NEVER Fall into deals. So that makes this all the more exciting!

I'm cruising Craigslist looking for motor parts. And I decide to do a search on Ford 393. And up comes an ad for a town 20 minutes away. It says, "351 Stroker Parts - $1" so I open the ad and what do I find? A COMPLETE set of parts to build a 393 so my first thought is that it's going to cost an arm and leg because the list of parts, and the brands of the parts, tells me there's $6000 worth of stuff there. So I finish reading the ad and it's by a guy who was going to build it for his Bronco and it's a fuel injection set up. So I wondered if he'd part it out since I want to stay carbed and I'll need a different cam because I want overall performance and not just low end torque. So I call him and he tells me if I pop over with $1800 he'll let the WHOLE pile go. So I popped over, looked it all ovfer - it's all new and still in boxes - and I give him $1800. I go back this Friday to finish picking everything up.

I figure I can sell the truck and fuel injection parts and then after selling my current motor I'll be money ahead. Last evening I made a spreadsheet of things I'll need and I'm estimating that after all is said and done, I should have a 393 sitting in my car for less than $1000. I am SO FREAKIN PSYCHED! I'll post some pics after all the parts are here!

    Don

Nice thing about about the 393...only special part is the crank. The rest is a combo of 351/302 parts..inexpensive cubic inches!!

    Well, easy come, easy go...

Yesterday my wife came home from work late and when she came in I could tell something was really wrong. She then proceeded to tell me she was late because the place where she worked called her and two other people into the office to let them know the owner's wife was going to come back to work (due to the economic environment) and so their services were no longer required. So we're now a one income household again. I know there are a lot of people with no income so I'm thankful for my job but it puts a real crimp in not only the car plans but more importantly, the kids college funding.

So I called the guy I bought the stuff from and he gave me the names and numbers of two other people that had expressed interest in the parts. I called them and between the two of them sold almost everything. I have a set of rings left and a set of push rods. Otherwise everything is gone.

It was nice while it lasted.
