the white 1979
zephyr is coming home in 2 weeks from its resting spot outside of decatur texas.I'm currently doing a finish out on an 1986 stang coupe for a friend that doesnt have time to do it.he has been working 13- 16 hours a day.the labor for getting the coupe going will be paid in full through a trade off with a 1998 gt.2 valve/5 speed/3.27 geared rearend 8.8
My plan is to gut the GT of all running gear and suspension, brakes, fuel system,heater,a/c.Hopefully shouldnt take too long to swap everything( i hope).when the job is done,THE
ZEPHYR will be a new daily driver with frosty cold a/c.handling and braking of a new car.the only give away from the outside will be the strangely familiar sound of a mod motors long winded breathing coming from underneath a stock 1979 hood.
and the stretched out exhaust note from the rear of the
zephyr.I will get plenty of pics when i start.the cleanout of the
zephyr wont be fun.there will be a large pile of garbage from inside the car.the other pile will be scrap pile from the original suspension, fuel system, brakes and underneath sheetmetal that will be removed.instead of trying to retrofit the fuel tank to the old car;im gonna cut out the trunk floor from both cars and swap in the new to old.the easiest swap should be the hydraboost system.
It will be the beginning of the redo for my current daily.an ex-dps chase car.an SSP COUPE used by the great state of texas to plunder your wallets of much needed state dollars.the eventual plan is to repaint, new carpet, headliner and replace the seats with the cobra leather seats that once resided in there.
what do you guys think?sound like a plan?
